Kinesio Taping® in Miami, FL
The physical therapists of Advanced Sport and Spine Therapy are specially trained to identify which therapeutic modalities will help you the most. Many of our modalities are designed to enhance the body’s natural ability to heal and recover. One such modality is Kinesio Taping® that we offer for patients in Aventura, Kendall, Hialeah, and Fort Lauderdale and the surrounding areas.
Finding interventions that support the body’s natural ability to heal is one of the most effective ways to help our patients. Whenever possible, we recommend therapeutic interventions that do not require medications or surgery. Your body is designed to respond to trauma and injury too quickly and effectively minimize the damage. Kinesio Taping® works with your body to expedite healing and recovery.
What is Kinesio Taping®?
Kinesio Taping® was developed in the 1970s by a well-respected acupuncturist and chiropractor, Dr. Kenzo Kase. After searching for an effective therapeutic tape to help his patients, Dr. Kase found that the current offerings did not meet his therapeutic requirements. He developed his own tape (Kinesio Tex Tape) as well as a technique for applying the tape to the body.
Benefits of Kinesio Taping®
Our physical therapists use Kinesio Taping® as a complementary modality to achieve:
- Neuromuscular re-education.
- Performance optimization.
- Pain management.
- Reduction in inflammation and swelling.
- Improve blood circulation.
How will Kinesio Taping® Help Me?
Research into the benefits of Kinesio Taping® and practical experience with the treatment has shown that when the technique is properly performed, patients experience:
- Accelerated healing.
- Improved range of motion.
- Reduced risk of new injuries.
The Procedure for Kinesio Taping®
Using the Kinesio Taping® technique requires specialized training to ensure maximum physiological benefits. Strips of the Kinesio Tex Tape are placed on the skin in specific patterns. The tape applies tension to the skin to increase blood flow to the area. The technique may be used for targeting the fascia, joints, ligaments, muscles and tendons.
Is Kinesio Taping® Covered by My Insurance?
Kinesio Taping® is a therapeutic modality that is incorporated into your physical therapy treatment. As such, Kinesio Taping® by your therapist may be covered under your insurance plan.
