Neurology Procedures

Our highly skilled neurologists perform the following procedures to diagnose, treat and manage neurologic conditions.

What happens during a Neurological Examination?

A neurological examination consists of a review of the patient’s health history with special attention paid to their current condition. Typically, the physician will assess the patient’s vision, muscular strength, coordination, sensations, and reflexes. Information gathered from the exam helps the neurologist determine if the problem is based in the nervous system. Further examinations and/or tests may be needed to confirm the diagnosis or to determine a course of treatment.

Why Do Patients Need a Neurological Examination?

A neurological exam is typically recommended when a primary care physician or family doctor seeks a specialized opinion regarding a patient whose symptoms or experiences may involve the brain or nervous system.

What are some symptoms or signs that may indicate your need to see a neurologist?

  1. Persistent or sudden onset of a headache
  2. A headache which changes
  3. Loss of feeling or tingling
  4. Weakness or loss of muscle strength
  5. Sudden loss of sight
  6. Forgetfulness
  7. Lack of coordination
  8. Muscle rigidity
  9. Muscle spasms or tics
