Procedures and Techniques Used by Physical Therapists

Our highly skilled Physical Therapy specialists perform the following procedures to diagnose, treat and manage minor and chronic joint and muscular conditions.

  • Manual therapy, the most recognized technique for physical therapy, involves using the hands and/or specialized instruments (IASTM), to manipulate, massage and mobilize areas of the body. The technique reduces pain, eases tension in the muscles, promotes proper alignment and improves blood flow.
  • Therapeutic modalities, such as ultrasound, Hot and Cold packs, Neuromuscular E-Stim, Kinesio and McConnell Taping, MLS® laser therapy.
  • Therapeutic Exercise to improve coordination, strength, endurance, and flexibility. The exercises may target the specific area affected by your injury or focus on whole-body improvements.
  • Education. Educating the patient to understand limitations and reduce the potential for experiencing future injuries. Education may also include at-home exercises, home safety and proper use of assistive devices.

The goal of physical therapy is to improve your ability to move and use your body. We achieve this goal by:

  • Reducing pain and discomfort.
  • Restoring range of motion.
  • Improving your flexibility, strength, and conditioning.
  • Rebuilding your confidence.
  • Improving balance and gait.

Is Physical Therapy Covered by Insurance?
