Sacroiliac Joint Injection in Miami, FL
Advanced Neuro and Spine Institute is one of South Florida’s leading pain management treatment centers, designed to help patients effectively manage painful neurologic and spine-related conditions via sacroiliac joint injection. The neurologists and pain management specialists at our Aventura, Kendall, Hialeah, and Fort Lauderdale offices deliver expert, personalized care in a welcoming environment.
The sacroiliac joints are situated next to the spine and connect to the sacrum on both sides of the hip. Injury and aging are the most common causes of sacroiliac joint pain.
When Are Sacroiliac Joint Injections Recommended?
Sacroiliac joint injections or blocks are used as a diagnostic tool to treat sciatica and pain in the lower back.
How Are Sacroiliac Injections Administered?
Diagnostic injections in the sacroiliac joints are used to determine the location and cause of sacroiliac pain. The injections are administered and targeted based on x-rays. A needle is inserted into the sacroiliac joint and a solution is injected to numb the area.
Due to the nature of the injections, you may be required to remain in the office for at least 30 minutes after the procedure so that your medical team can monitor you for complications, allergic reactions, and side effects. We advise our patients to drink plenty of fluids to flush out the dyes that are used for the procedure. If you are sedated for your sacroiliac joint injections, you should refrain from activities that require you to move around. You may experience soreness and redness at the injection site for one to two days.
What Are the Benefits of Sacroiliac Joint Injections?
